McGuinty welcomes debate on smoking ban

Premier Dalton McGuinty is trying to debate whether the smoking habit should be outlawed. David Orazietti, the MPP of Liberal has shown bill that would ban smoking in automobiles with children under 16. McGuinty’s opinion is that cars are not their personal space. Also, idea of smoking inside a car is reprehensible for kids who doesn’t have any choice in the matter at all. They all looking forward to debate on the bill that is banning smoking in cars with children under certain age. Also, they have mention that point of banning this habit is to let people know how dangerous tobacco is which violate health and risk children’s health and doesn’t make any better. Moreover, second hand smoke has been linked to health problems such as ear infections and lung cancer. According to Ontario Medical Association, they think it is the right thing to do to protect children against second hand smoke or to start to smoke. About 200 to 1000 dollar will be charge if police catch any people smoking in a car with kids.
This debating will be very intense because there is a lot of people who smokes but there are also people who does not smoke. Therefore, they will vote depends on whether they smoke or not.
In my opinion, Ontario government should ban the smoking habit in the car. They should make the law more strict and become a healthy country.

Father charged in teen's killing

On Monday night, one police officer J.P Valade have received a call from the hospital that father killed his own daughter. The girl was a 16 years old name Aqsa Parvez and the criminal, father name Muhammad Parvez, 57 years old. Also, he will be standing at the Brampton Court to claim his crime. According to the student at Applewood Heights Secondary School in Mississauga said the teen has recently clashed with her family after ceasing to wear a hijab and adopting a more Western style of dress. Also, the girl was suffering from life threatening injuries which she was taken to Credit Valley Hospital and transferred to Hospital for sick children later, where she have got killed. Throughout their investigation they have found that Daughter ran away from home at the end of September and this happened because parents forced to wear religious clothes. I strongly believe, it is parent’s fault because what they have done is very depressing for young kids and threatening by parent could be horror. Also, this small thing that parents can let go made one young life killed.

New licenses may eventually become a passport into U.S.

Jim Bradley, Ontario Transport Minister, has introduced the new driver’s license to the citizen. New Driver’s license is very highly secured features. Also, it is to prevent the identity thieves and other criminal which they stole it and use the identification to other uses. However, before they can be used as a passport alternative with new driver’s license, Ontario must strike a deal with the federal government on a way to embed citizenship data on the cards and get clearance on that from the privacy commissioner and wait for the U.S. government to finalize its standards. Ontario government has brought up this new driver’s license because old one was theft and it was misused from criminals. From passed years, there were a lot of occasion where people get theft from criminals and stolen thousands of money. I strongly believe that Ontario government went up a step which they think about citizen’s identity secure and they should quickly use the new driver’s license to prevent crimes as soon as possible. Therefore, U.S. government should quickly accept the usage of new driver’s license.

Ontario to look at cutting road salt

Ontario government is starting to sprinkle the salt to roads to prevent the accident from the frozen ice. Premier Dalton McGuinty announced that the provinice will took at putting the brakes on the widespread use of road salt. However, they are not using salt much more efficiently, Also, 80 percent of salt is not used efficiently. Moreover, the road salt is currently exempt from its environmental protection laws even though It has been called toxic to plants and animals. In my opinion, they should use road salt because, if it won't, there will be much more accident happen, especailly in winter. However, they shoud use more efficiently and widspread the salts.

18-month probe cracks human-smuggling rings

Two independent organization have been accused of smuggling service. The service were to taking the hundreds of illegal immigrants across the Canada border into the United States and charged thousands of dollars for that service. U.S. says that they had the ability to have a steady stream of aliens in Canada that they had tapped into, and were then to persuade to pay them to bring them into the U.S. Current, the U.S. is trying to arrest the two organization. The illegal immigrants were primarily Koreans and charged between $5,000 and $10,000 per person. The smuggling service was artful acts from the two organization which they meet their customers at Pearson Airport and provide the room, food service until they enter the U.S. They found that 20 people were smuggled a month. RCMP has arrest 4 Korean who organized this illegal service in Canada and two Korean get arrested in South Korea.
I’m truly embarrassed by this incident where Korean do illegal smuggling immigrants. They should punished hard and kick out of U.S. and Canada. People like this should never allowed to immigrated to other country.

TTC accused of wasting tax dollars in decade-long battle

TTC( Toronto Transit Commission) has spend over $450,000 dollar on lawyers to fight blind lawyer. David Lepofsky is a senior Ontario government lawyer who waged a decade – long but successful battle against the TTC over the issue. His perspective was to that they could use the taxes money wisely rather than spending on him. Also, the human rights in TTC, for instance the case about the subway system in 2005. He have won an order in July that gave the TTC 30 days to start announcing all stops on its bus and streetcar system. TTC have spend huge amount of money to defend against them which was waste. They said that TTC must give the nine city councillors who serve as commissioners special training on the needs of the disabled, as well as all future drivers, supervisors and senior managers. In my opinion, TTC should not use all the citizen taxes to just to oppose the lawyer, David Lepofsky. TTC should give more respects and human rights to the citizen and make TTC a better place. I strong recommend that they should get punished from the government in fact that they just waste about 450,000 dollar which should use for the citizens.

Who will be the Nation Builder of 2007?

On the November, 24th of 2007, there was gun fight incident. two men were founded dead after police arrived. Police Officer were called to a parking lot near Birchmount Road and Bonis Avenue at 1 :22 P.M and police officer found 19 year old man dead with multiple gunshot. About in the next morning, the same officer received a called that residents in the condominium unit on Sheppard Avenue East had found a dead body with bullets. Just after 10 P.M, Police officer received a call that man has been stabbing on O’Connor Drive near St.Clair Avenue East. The man was stabbed to the chest and listed in critical condition. The investigators suspect that 4 groups of gangs are involved and two groups opened fire on each other. On the other hand, Seven school in the area were locked down after gunfight and reopened about two hours later. The hand gun was clearly visible in the near local pizza restaurant and a medical clinic. The police is looking for the suspects, however, police did not mention the victim’s name. I believe that it is horrible that innocent people getting sacrificed by the gangs fight. The police must find that suspect or find every gangs in the area and put them in the jail. Innocent people must not be sacrificed. Also, men in the gang could be affected by the violent games, therefore, the game maker should less make the violent product. The most horrible thing, gun, should discriminated from the society and police have to control them.

Health-care spending to hit $160-billion in 2007

The money that is spended for Health care in Canada contintue to increase over few years. Estimation of 160.1 million dollar that was spended 2007. It increased about 6.6 percent from last year and 10.4 percent increased from 2005. According to CIHI, about $4867 is spended on each Canadian. Moreover, in 2006, about $4,606 was spended and $4,373 was spended on year before, 2005. Surpassing over $100 million is the first time in the history of Canada. Created by Canada's federal and provincial governments, CIHI is a non-for-profit independent organization that collects, analyzes and releases information on health and health care. In my opinion, Canada is very wealthy country well as the best health care system. It is the one of the pull factor for immigrants to come to Canada which mean the citizen's health is guranteed to be care properly. These Health care money is increasing because a lot of immigrants from other countries are willing to live in Canada with their health cared. However, this system are able to survive because of the taxes. Canada has a one of the country that has high percentage of taxes, 15 percent. This money will go to the health care system for citizens and other insitution that helps the citizen. In fact, if immigrants thin they are not paying for the health care is wrong. They all pay through the taxes.

Awash in cash, Tories expected to cut GST to 5 per cent

Government of Canada announce that they are planning to cut the GST to 8% to 5 %. It is because Ottawa’s swelling budget surplus. Toronto – Dominion Bank chief economist Don Drummond forecasts Ottawa is headed for a surplus of 14.5 billion this year. It went to 3.3 billion before to now 14.5 billion dollar. Finance Minister Jim Flaherty announce about this plan front of the House of Commons. This GST cut would benefit shoppers and businesses during the Christmas season. Council approves new tax, fee

New land transfer tax and vehicle registration fee was a controversial issue. However, now it has passed easily at Toronto city council. The land transfer tax was approved in a 26 to 19 vote which they expect $155 million next year and $240 million in following year. People have to pay 0.5 % on the first 55,000 of the home’s value. City council has voted 25 – 20 to approve the 60 year vehicle tax that will yield 20 million in 2008. There was people who were against the land tax waged by the Toronto Real Estate Board. There message was that the tax is unfair because a small percentage of citizens, home buyer, will shoulder most of the city’s budget. All of this decision was made for the people in the city and province. I strongly believe the decision that councils has made; New and transfer tax and vehicle registration fee is very good idea because with that tax they could run the city and use the money for the good cause of Toronto. Almost every single province has a people who are against the government’s decision. However, the vote is from the city council that represent the citizen which means majority of the people wants the New land transfer tax and vehicle registration fee.

Controversial tax plan in the hands of swing votes

The mayor’s office and the key voters on the council’s negotiation is intensifying due to the tax debate at city hall in one week. This debate is about consensus to approve a land transfer tax on the purchase of a home and a car registration fee for 2008. Politician Mr. Milczyn helped the mayor to win the debate by one-vote in July, he supports the idea but he wants the cost to be reduced. The land transfer tax of up to 2 per cent and a 60 dollar fee to register car ownership. Many of the councillors believes that the mayor can make a good compromise and get a victory in the debate.

My opinion is that I support the tax and I believe that the mayor will win the debate, this is because many are supporting the mayor already, the mayor just have to make small adjustments to the plan and it will surely earn him votes. I support the tax because I would not think that this is a huge tax, it can bring $356-million a year in total which could be used for good deeds.

Historic win for Liberals

First time won after 70 years ago, A triumphant Dalton McGuinty has won the majority government against Conservative leader John Tory. He is 52 years old and lawyer who has been estimated too low from people since his improbable Liberal leadership victory in 1996. Dalton McGuinty has strong disagreement with Conservative Leader John Tory $400 million plan to extend public funding to fairth based schools to his advantage. McGuinty mentioned that people in Ontario is free to be who you are and respect culture and faith. On the other hand, John Tory has bitter disappointment because Rogers Cable CEO and runner- up to David miller had high hopes of winning power by returning the Conservative to the political centre after the right wing policies of former premiers Mike Harris and Ernie Eves.

I believe that politic is very tough job because one party Leader have to make citizen satisfy for them to vote for them. This means they have to understand citizen’s circumstances and know what going on around the country. I think people vote for Dalton McGuinty because they want to give him a chance.

Foreign Minister makes unannounced trip to Afghanistan

Foreign Affair Minister Maxime Bernier had
discussion with President of

Afghanistan Hamid Karzai. This is first visit to
Afghanistan since Prime Minister Harper. This

discussion was about the negotiation with Taliban
forces. Bernier maintain Canada’s perspective

and position on this negotiation has not changed. Currently, he is on whirlwind tour of Afghan

with International Co-operation Minister Bev Oda. Canadian minister ensure that security to

the Canadian troops and the children who are in school. Two minister is planning to tour

Canadian supported development project in the war – torn country. On the other hand, there

were bombing incident happen toward the U.S. Military in Kabul’s airport. One U.S. soldier and

a four Afghan civilians got killed 2007 has been most violent of the year effort since September

11th attack, more than 5,100 people have died all in 2007. Also, there were other bombing

incident in Kabul that bomb Afghan army bus. Also, bombing, gun battles, air strikes and

roadside bomb killed 5, 100 people. I believe that all country should support U.S. to dominate

the terrorist forces. If this does happen many of innocent civilian will die. Country will have to

upgrade their protection for the country and citizen. Also, they should support Canada and U.S.

which means that representative of country will have to negotiate between country to prevent

the terrorist attack and to dominate terrorist forces.

Thousands of South African miners rescued

On Thursday, October 4, 2007,

Harmony Gold’s Elandsrand Mine in

Carletonville, south west of Johannesburg South

Africa, About 2000 South African gold miner

was trapped and got rescued in a dramatic all

night operation. What happen was that

pressurized air pipe was snapped and caused elevator damage. It was huge problem for miners

because they are in deep underground and to able to come up, they had to use a elevator. The

mine owner and energy minister promised that they will improve their safety. There were no

injuries or death and most of them were women workers. The workers were given food and

water. This could make huge problem to the South Africa and whole world if all the workers

were just buried in underground. I think the owner and the company should upgrade their

protection. As much they work with an effort they should get pay more and get respect more.

Korean leaders meet in historic summit

South Korea president Roh Moo – Hyun has cross the

DMZ between North and South Korea for the first

time. On 2000, President Kim Dae – Jung has flew to

North Korea but did not cross the DMZ boarder. Mr.

Roh mentioned that the goal is to keep the peace

between those two countries. Since 1953, Korea was

divided into North and South, they cross the DMZ

boarder which made the huge wall between two

countries. Mr. Roh also mentioned that “This line is a

wall that has divided the nation for a half-century. Our people have suffered from too many

hardships and development has been held up due to this wall,” before crossing the boarder.

When Mr. Roh arrived to the Pyongyang the capital city of North Korea, thousands of people

were welcoming, also, President of North Korea Kim jung il was welcoming the Mr. Roh. The

security was perfect and there was emergency jet. The talk between two president was about

the Nuclear weapons and keeping the peace. I believe that Mr. Roh crossed the DMZ is very

meaning to the both citizens that one day DMZ boarder will be gone and become united. Also,

President Kim Dae jung got a Novel prize for the peace keeping with North Korea. As same as

Mr. Roh should get Novel prize.

Dollar closes above U.S. greenback

Since November, 1976, Canadian dollar has never been closed above parity

with U.S dollar. However, now 2007, it has closing up two thirds of a cent at 1.0052(U.S.).

According to the Global currency strategist at JP . Morgan in New York said Canadian dollar is

used more than another as a proxy for oil and when oil prices rise, anyone that want to bet on oil

and does not want to play the commodity market turns to the Canadian dollar. Soaring oil and

gas prices have bolstered Canada’s economy and currency in recent years, leading the loonie to

be dubbed the petro currency. Canadian loonie has increased 6.4 per cent in the third quarter of

this year and more than 5 per cent this month. On the other hand, U.S economy is argent that

interest rates again to prop up the ailing U.S. This Canadian dollar currency that is increasing

currently. This proves that Canada is developing and becoming a strong economy country.

Canada was always behind the U.S. for a long time. But, now I think its time to show the power

that Canada got to other country. However, it will be not benefit to people who exchange money

to Canadian dollar because the exchanging Canadian currency is so high.

Another Canadian minority likely: Harper

Possibility 'looms high,' PM tells U.S. foreign policy groupPossibility 'looms high,' PM tells U.S. foreign policy group -

The Prime Minister Stephen Harper addressed that he is confidence with vote that

will happen on October 16th to Council on Foreign Relations. This vote is about

confederationvote from each minority government. He guaranteed that he will have most vote

because he is the prime minister but not close to

half of the vote. On the other hand, Liberal MP

Scott Brian criticize Stephen Harper that he is

leading country to wrong way that Americans

shouldn’t be turning their backs on Colombia by

blocking a free tread deal with that country

which Liberal party disagree with fact that Colombia need its democratic friends to lean forward

and give them the chance at partnership and trade with North America. In my opinion, Harper

is trying to make his party win the election by fact that he had a power as a Prime Minister of

Canada. This minority election should be fare to another politician. Also, we need to realize that

if Harper acts what he promised to the country.

Stephen Harper said that gas emissions to be slashed in half by 2050 on Monday

at the United Nation. It was first time that Canada desire for a less rigid arrangement than the

reduction targets and developing countries such as India and china, do not. Also, Mr. Harper

focused on the issue of techno logy. The UN
Secretary – General Mr. Ban outlined his

recommendations for a new climate change deal
which Mr. Ban warned Tokyo protocol if there

is an extension. Canada’s perspective is that
“Climate change is perhaps the biggest

environmental threat faced by our planet today,
and Canada is committed to achieving

significant reductions in greenhouse – gas emissions over the coming years. Harper declared

that Climate changes are one of the greatest problem.

Girls study harder than boys, says StatsCan

Until 21st century, going to university, get a job, and being householder was

men’s roles. However, it is quickly changing to the opposite. According to the Statscan( statistics

Canada), a new study makes a gap differences of academic performance average 15 years old

which young women study hard than young men. Men’s poor academic performance almost

reach 50% and young men has much lower average of age 15 than young women. They say that

reasons that young women study harder than young men is because they have different

characteristics. Moreover, men have less time spending on homework than women. I believe

that Men could do much better and reasons that women are becoming powerful is because that

women are showing that they can do anything. For example, it was a men's job to work and feed

the family about 100 Years ago and women's job was to stay home to clean, cook and raise

children. However, now they are trying to make it opposite and women are becoming very

powerful to our society. Therefore, men should work hard and try not to lose men's right.

Afghans can't stand on own by 2009, Karzai tells Canadians

Afgan President Hamid Karzai has announced that Afgan cannot protect them

from Taliban its own. So he want Canadian Army to continue to fight with Taliban. Alos, he

making a world safer. On the other hand, Canadian prime

Minister Stephen Harper Prime said

the current mission would continue only if his minority goverment

could get a consensus in

fight with Taliban because we could protect the Canadian citizens

from Taliban. However, Canada should not fight with Taliban just

because of protecting Afgan.

Should your daughter get the HPV vaccine?

In most of Canada, Vaccine program is controversial. This article is about

the HPV Vaccine that most of the girls have to get to prevent cancers. It it usually young girls

who gets this Vaccine, including Ontario, PEI, Nova scotia and Newfoundland have this Vaccine

program. However, rest of the province did not decide whether they are going to have Vaccine

program or not. On the other hand, If you get this Vaccine later when children grew it will be

much expensive. It cost about $400 when you get after the certain age. When school provide

this prgram, it is free. I believe that every girl in Canada should get this Vaccine because this

Vaccine does not harm you, it helps you to prevent Cancer. Moverover, All parents should agree

on this Prgram if they really think about their children. It save children's life, money, and family

conservation.

How cancer research dollars are spent.

According to Canadian Caner Research Alliance, the money that was funraised or

donated are used for different kinds of research. There are used for bolstering prevention,

improving treatment, trying to unravel the biology and etiology and understand

survivorship. The money that were invested was divide into certain percentage to use there

certain categories. Moreover, the money is used for ingrastructure and equipment and salaries.

Total 3,260 research studies were catelogued. About 200 related diseases characterized by

uncontrolled cell growth including lung cancer, colorectal caner and breast cancer. National

Cancer Institute of Canada estimated that 159,900 Canadians will be diagnosed with caner and

72,700 will die.

I always wonder that where all the donated and fundraised money will go to. I

remember that i said this money will not go to cancer and it will go to polician's pocket. Now,

I'am very confident about donating money to the chairy or association that refers to cancer. I

strongly agree that people should do more of donation through the assocation, this will make our
society better, and to reduce nuber of death. I hope that all the invested money will go to the

people who needs it.

Injured Canadian soldiers back on duty after weekend attack

Currenty, there are many Canadian soilders in Afganistan, mostly in kadahar region

to fight for the regions that is under controled by Taliban. On Sunday the tank was attacked by

shrapnel which soldiers were slightly injured from it. Furthermore, the vehicle that Canadian

press reporter and soldier were in hit the roadside bomb. However, these two incident did not

cause any death or serious injuries. On the other
hand, offensive was a success. Around 2500

Canadian soldier was into Afganistan to fight
against Taliban and seventy Canadian soldier
died for last 6 years. I strongly believe that too
many Canadian civilian was joined to this war

and that will cause a lot of deadth and injuries.
To reduce this death or injuries, Canada should

limit the soldier to sent to Afganistan. Moreover, Canada should look forward to use budgets

more to medical care, Education, and region development. Therefore, Canada should reduce the

number of soldiers to join this war.
